One day until the Georgia Bar Exam

I am traveling up to Atlanta, Georgia today so I can take the Georgia Bar tomorrow morning, bright and early, at 8:30 a.m. I feel like I did just before I took the Florida Bar two years ago, I am nervous but I also am excited to get this test behind me. I figure by this point I either know what I need for the exam, or it is too late to cram any more into my skull, so why worry?

Fear of failure is a very good motivator by the way. I am so afraid of going to take the exam, blanking out on a key point of law and failing, that I have been reading and rereading my materials for the past two weeks. When I pull up the exam results in September I want my name will be on the list, so I will be able to tell my family, friends and the firm that I passed.

Once I get back home on Tuesday I will be very glad that my nights will no longer consist of reading rules of law and doing practice essays. I am looking forward to spending time with Becky, working in our overgrown yard, and not being so stressed out. It has been hard going to work all day and then coming home at night to study. I feel like I have been running on fumes the last few weeks and I tend not to deal with stress very well. I am beginning to feel run down and when that happens, I end up getting sick. I really would like to avoid that.

I now fully understand what Becky went through her first time taking the Florida Bar. It must have been even worse for her because she had to take the MBE multiple choice portion in addition to the state essays. I have no idea how she was able to study double the materials I have, work full-time, buy a new house, and move. I have been able to empathize with her as a result of studying for this exam how hard she had to work back in 2005.

Jackson is snoring behind me as I write this. He loves to wedge himself in between the back of the chair and whoever is sitting at the computer. I guess it is time to get going. Becky bought me brand new black pens for the exam and packed me a little cooler full of drinks and snacks for tomorrow. Here’s to passing the Georgia Bar and being certified in two states! This is the last bar exam I ever want to take.
