Dinner with Courtney and Seth
We met Courtney and Seth along with their two small children at Sonny’s BBQ after work for dinner. Their son Michael (great name) is almost three and their daughter Zoe is somewhere between 1 and 2.
Becks and I were seated on one side while Zoe sat in a highchair at the end of the table and Mikey was secured in the corner next to Seth. Watching Courtney and Seth handle the kids served as a glimpse into the life Becks and I are about to enter. The first thing I learned was keeping the kids distracted is key. They used coloring, a juice cup and various items from Courtney’s purse like a tube of lip gloss to keep them entertained as we waited for our food to arrive.
The next thing I learned was that watching a little kid eat is entertaining. When the food arrived the show was on for Zoe. Although she was entertained dipping a piece of fried okra into ranch dressing for awhile she soon decided that dipping her hands into the ranch dressing was much more fun. She also used her fork as a phone and got a large piece of macaroni and cheese in her hair. Eventually she tried to eat the ranch dressing container. At that point Courtney took it away and cleaned up Zoe and her little mess. Mikey was also entertaining as he asked the waitress where his drink was, when the food would come and whether anyone would like some of his macaroni and cheese.
Overall it was nice seeing Courtney and Seth and catch a glimpse of the world that awaits Becks and I when our little one arrives and we decided to take him or her out to eat.
