Once More Unto the Breach Dear Friends
Today is election day and America is presented with two very different choices. One is preaching a message of “hope” and “change”. He promises to immediately pull our troops out of Iraq, redistribute wealth, establish nationalized health care and fill the federal judiciary with judges who will legislate from the bench. The other man promises victory in Iraq with honor, a policy of low taxes, tax credits for health care choice and judges who will strictly interpret the United States Constitution. The differences between Obama and McCain could not be clearer and I hope that Americans can see through Obama’s slickly packaged rhetoric and reaffirm America’s commitment to free enterprise, individual liberties and the rule of law.
The Presidential election is not all that is at state today. Numerous senatorial races are taking places in states all across our country from Maine, New Hampshire, Kentucky, Georgia and Texas. The Democrats are salivating at the prospect of achieving the Holy Grail of a 60 seat super majority and the ability to rubber stamp the liberal agenda of Speaker Pelosi. Some of the more disturbing legislation that could result from all three branches of government being controlled by the Democrats include the “card check” proposal of doing away with secret union elections, the institution of the “fairness doctrine” and rising personal and corporate taxes.
I wonder if all of those people who are voting for Barack Obama really understand what they are casting their vote for. I know that where I live is primarily a Democratic area, but Jefferson County Democrats are “Blue Dogs” and often have ideals that mirror those of conservatives rather than Democrats from San Francisco, New York and Massachusetts. I anticipate that if Obama wins they will be shocked by many of the proposals he has been advocating while on the campaign trail (but the national media for the most part decided to ignore) including his desire to bankrupt the coal industry, decrease defense spending, and give approximately 40% of Americans who do not pay federal income taxes welfare checks.
As I sat at work today listening to the radio I was shocked by some of the reports. Black Panther members were intimidating potential voters outside a Philadelphia polling location (who the Obama campaign defended), service member votes were being threatened not to be counted in Virginia and various polling machines were malfunctioning. These incidents when viewed in connection with rampart voter registration fraud (courtesy of ACORN and other community organizers) makes me lose a little faith in our electoral system. Why has holding a fair election become so hard for Americans?
With a new baby boy on the way I fear that a victory for Obama and the liberal Democrats will move America in the wrong direction. Tonight I will watch the election returns on television and continue to pray that John McCain is victorious.

Yes, the wrong direction. We should, as that bum in office said, “stay the course”. Great advice!! Every night for the last week my family and I prayed that “America elect the best President.” Thank God that he moved Americans to do just that.

Thanks for the comment Andy. Obama will be our President for at least the next 4 years and I hope he does well. He sure has a lot of challenges facing him…
I love how short-sighted Americans are. They are disrespectful enough to call the Commander and Chief a “bum”, yet fail to recognize that this country has been kept safe by that “bum” since 2001.
I agree with you that I am not happy about Obama’s election, but I have enough respect for this country to honor its choice and give him a chance. That is the difference, though, between the value systems of the two sides. Even if he proves me correct, I will stand behind Obama, because I love this country and its rich history. I also know that he will be up for re-election in four years. That is the American way.
As for prayer, I humbly pray that God does not turn away from this country, but continues to bless us. With that said, I am extremely happy that Amendment Two passed in Florida.
P.S. I hope that the pathetically run Jefferson County, which was one of the few counties in North Florida to go for Obama, is not an indication of the quality of leadership we are about to receive.
Huckabee/Palin 2012!
