Mowing, Visiting and Grilling

July 25, 2009

Mason woke up fairly early this morning and after feeding him a bottle while watching SportsCenter I put him on the floor to see if he wanted to scoot.  He sat there looking at me with a big smile on his face.

While I was sitting on the floor with him Becks woke up and came into the living room.  She decided to watch old movies with Mason and I decided it was time to mow the lawn.  It was not terribly hot when I started at 8:30 a.m. and I was able to get the mowing portion over and done with in about 2 hours.  I then decided to edge the walkway and sidewalk since our centipede grass was growing over the edges.  When I was done the yard looked very nice.

We then met Courtney and Zoe at Sage on their back deck for lunch. Despite it being in the high 80’s there was a nice breeze and it was not too bad sitting outside.  We had a nice lunch and it was entertaining watching Zoe eat her peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

After lunch Courtney came back to our house to visit with Becks.  While they looked at each others’ wedding albums I flipped through the channels waiting for the Chicago Fire vs. Seattle Sounders soccer game to come on.

I watched the first half of the game and then went to Winn-Dixie to pick up some items for dinner.  Once the grill was fired up Becks came outside with Mason so he could swim in his pool.  Sadly, there was a hole in the top and after squeezing out water that had made its way inside the pool I patched it.  The patch held long enough to allow Becks and Mason to swim while I waited for our steaks to cook.

Dinner (steak, baked potato, sautéed onions and corn on the cob) was really good and after giving Mason a bath and putting him to bed we both called it a night.

    I was up this weekend.
    Work, work, work!

I don’t know whether it’s a mild summer, or if I’m used to the brutal humid heat of South Florida, but it seemed like this past weekend was more like Fall up there.

The nights up there were so awesome. Sat out on the pool deck and looked at the stars. Saw the space station or a satellite, saw more stars than I could ever count. Didn’t hear a car or a siren or a car honking. Got no TV. No idea what calamities I was *missing*.

I’d give anything to be there right now.

Life is so much simpler up there. Best thing is my cell phone doesn’t work on my property.

It was nice up here this weekend but I am not sure I’d describe it as fall like! Then again, compared to South Florida it probably was for you. The thermometer has actually been at 70 or below a few mornings which is crazy for July.

Unplugging from the grid (no tv/cell phone etc.) can be nice. I love it when the cell is off and everyone I care to speak with is within shouting distance. Sometimes all this technology can be stressful and it’s nice to relax.

Any luck on moving the S. FLA house?

Based on what I’ve been through this summer, Low humidity makes it seem like fall weather to me. Must be that my sweat was evaporating for a change!

Still stuck here in S FL.

Had a buyer. Had a signed contract. Buyer has serious family health issues. Deal off for now.

The Real Estate market is totally screwed up. We were lucky to have these people interested and thats at a price $200K+ less than what our realtor started us out last year! And that guy never even brought us a potential buyer.
