Fifth Wedding Anniversary

Today is our 5th wedding anniversary and to celebrate Becks and I headed to Amelia Island for the weekend.  We got up early, packed our bags and left Mason under the care of his meme.  After grabbing some breakfast at Tupelo ’s and gassing up at the Petro we were on the road by 10:00 a.m.

While we drove Becks and I both said that we wanted to have fried shrimp and a cold beer on the beach for lunch.  When we got onto the island we drove down A-1A until we got to The Surf.  We both ordered a beer and while we waited for the shrimp to be brought to our table looked at the ocean, talked and people watched.

After lunch we headed to the Addison on Amelia.  We stayed at this bed and breakfast when we were engaged in 2003 and I thought it would be nice to stay there again for our anniversary.  Since our last stay the ownership has changed and the new innkeepers, Bob and Shannon, were very friendly.

Following a brief tour of the Addison our cheese tray and wine arrived.  Becks and I lounged around the room, had some wine and relaxed.  It felt good to spend some time alone with her and not have to worry about keeping an eye on Mason.

Hanging out at the beach

Happy hour started at 5:00 p.m. in the courtyard and after having a beer or two and mingling with the other guest Becks and I headed towards the beach.  It had approached 100 degrees during the day and was too hot to go beach until the sun was a little lower in the sky.

We set our blanket out on Main Beach and went for a swim.  I wanted to try to fly the kite Becks bought me for Father’s Day but there was no wind.  We stayed at the beach until around 8:30 p.m. and had a good time swimming, laying out and reading.

Love your blog! Next time you go towards Jaxsonville/St. Augustine, go to downtown St. Augustine, cross the bridge of Lions and go to a small restaurant on the right, the name escapes me now, but they have great fried shrimp!

I have been to St. Augustine once and thought it was a pretty cool little city. I will have to look for the place you mentioned next time I am there. If you remember the name, let me know!
