Fort Mason

September 17, 2010

The table in our dining room looks very nice but is not used a lot. It is one of the first things that you see when you walk in our house and makes it look like two grown-ups live in our house who know how to eat dinner at a table instead of on the couch while trying to keep 2 small children and three animals at bay and entertained.

Recently Becks built Mason a fort using a couple of blankets and some tray tables. It got the job done but was not the sturdiest structure.  Being a man who was well versed in fort construction in my youth I decided to put the dining room table to good use. I draped a couple of blankets over the tops and sides. I angled the chairs so there would be cool little side rooms and folded back one of the blankets so they would be a door. It was a pretty cool fort.

Mason was not sure about it at first but after I showed him how amazing the fort was he was sold. He moved all of his trucks into it and played in it for the rest of the evening.  It was fun to watch and listen to him play by himself and use his imagination.  I was also happy that I was able to get an adorable picture of him when he poked his head out for a peek at the outside world.
