Noles Fall to Tar Heels 37-35

November 6, 2010

Last week Florida State lost to NC State when Ponder fumbled on the 3 yard line with a little under two minutes to play.  Today the ‘Noles were looking to get back on the right track with a victory against UNC.  It did not happen.

FSU’s defense from last season was back in full force as the ‘Noles made T.J. Yates look like Tom Brady.  He carved apart FSU’s secondary while the ‘Noles had no answer to stop him.  It was rather depressing that FSU could not shut down their passing game despite UNC losing 2 of their running backs in the course of the game.

Florida State was outplayed for much of the game but found itself with a chance to win late in the 4th quarter.  The ‘Noles were down by 2 with seconds to play.  Dustin Hopkins lined up a 40 yard field goal for the win and pulled it wide right.  I felt bad for the kid. He is usually automatic from that distance but UNC was able to hold on for a 37-35 victory. They are lucky we built our goal post on an Indian burial ground.

Losing to UNC for the first time ever in Tallahassee was depressing.  It was even more depressing that Florida State let a chance to take control of the Atlantic Division following NC State’s loss.  Hopefully the garnet and gold can rebound next week against Clemson.
