Playing in Flour

January 7, 2011

I was rummaging through the freezer and found some chicken wings.  After looking at the date I decided it was time to bread those little guys up and toss them into some hot oil.  While I made up a dredge of flour, salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper Mason ran around the kitchen.  He then caught sight of what I was doing and I stood him up on a chair on the other side of the counter.  I gave him a measuring spoon, and a measuring cup to keep him entertained while I got the rest of dinner going.

He decided that playing with the measuring spoon and cup with flour would be fun and started filling his cups with the dredge I had made.  He concentrated as he moved the flour from the large bowl to the cup and then back again.  Every so often he would pick up the closed box of black pepper and shake some into his bowl.  He was having a very good time.

I ended up letting him play in the first bowl of flour and got out the ingredients to make a second for the chicken wings.  I had fun watching him play “cooker man” and I love having him in the kitchen with me while I make dinner.
