The LPA Recommends Approval of the EAR

February 8, 2011

Tonight was the first Local Planning Agency since October.  I was not feeling good, Becky was sick and the kids were screaming but I made a commitment to them and forced myself to go.  As I flipped through the agenda I was hoping that the meeting would not be too long and with only one item to be discussed I hoped to be home by 8:00 p.m.

Following the approval of last meeting’s minutes Darren started going over the final version of the EAR Report.  We reviewed the Urban Service Area map and then went section by section through the Land Use portion of the EAR.  The other board members had some good questions about dark sky goals and planned developments.  Overall Darren did a good job explaining the entire EAR and did a great job putting the report together.  In the end the LPA recommended approval by the City Council with the revisions made during our meeting.

The meeting closed with a discussion of some goals for 2011. Two which were touched upon included the implementation of a more detailed sign ordinance and what to do about code enforcement.  The former will be good to help limit ugly light up signs while the latter has little chance of going anywhere until a code enforcement office is hired.

There isn’t a schedule. We usually find out if we are having one 2 weeks before it happens. Some months we do not since there isn’t anything going on. I’ll email/let you know when the next one is though!
