Our Fence is Finally Painted

April 10, 2011

We started painting our fence on April 27, 2009 and finished it this afternoon. There was only one panel and the bottoms of a couple of others left to paint so Becky and I got them painted in a little over 2 hours.  We also touched up the gate and made sure all the edges of the fence were painted.

Over the course of the almost 2 years it took to finish the fence 4 people had a hand in painting it (Becky, her brother Mitch, Jarrod and me).  We used rollers, paint brushes and an electric paint sprayer.  It was slow going and I am very happy that it is finished.

It should be noted that we only painted the front and back of the fence that fronts Mulberry Street.  The other 2 1/2 sides (1/2 a side is bound by a neighbor’s fence) will remain natural and continue to weather.  Part of this is because they are behind azalea bushes and the other part is continuing at our current pace it would take until 2016 to finish painting.
