Brewsday Tuesday: Southern Tier IPA

June 21, 2011

Name: Southern Tier IPA

Brewed by: Southern Tier Brewing Company

Style/ABV: IPA / 7.3%

Appearance: Light copper color that pours into the glass with a nice frothy two finger head which quickly disappears.  There is a nice amount of lacing on the glass while I drink the beer.

Smell: Hops and citrus.

Taste: Starts out with a slight sweetness that reminds me of graham crackers before the earthy hops punch emerges.  Lots of citrus flavors, grapefruit/lemon with a bit of spiciness.

Mouthfeel:  Medium with good carbonation.  The beer is crisp and very drinkable.

Overall: A good IPA that is becoming more widely available in the Tallahassee, Florida area.  I would not hesitate to pick it up again.

Final Grade: B
