Brewsday Tuesday: Highland Kashmir IPA

July 26, 2011

While vacationing up in Western North Carolina we stopped at the Ingles located outside Bryson City to pick up some groceries.  I was looking forward to trying some local beers and picked up a 6-pack of Highland Kashmir IPA.

Name: Highland Kashmir IPA

Brewed by: Highland Brewing

Style/ABV: American IPA / 5.6%

Appearance: Clear copper orange color with a one finger light cream colored head.

Smell: Lemon, orange and hop spiciness with a hit of malt sweetness

Taste: A balanced beer that is dominated by the citrusy flavored hops.  It finishes with a nice bit of hop bitterness but is not dry.

Mouthfeel: Creamy and smooth with medium carbonation.

Overall: A balanced beer that is mellower than other hop heavy IPAs and perfect for a warm North Carolina evening.

Final Grade: B+
