Brewsday Tuesday: Hennepin

August 23, 2011

Name: Hennepin

Brewed by: Brewery Ommegang

Style/ABV: Saison / Farmhouse Ale / 7.7%

Appearance: Clear straw yellow with a nice pillowy 3 finger head that slowly melts to a 1/2 finger for the remainder of the pint.

Smell: Yeast, cloves, bananas, hint of lemon with a bit of that Belgian funk.

Taste: Crisp grains, spiciness, earthy with a finish of sweet fruit.

Mouthfeel: Light with medium carbonation with a ridiciously dry and clean finish.

Overall: A superb beer. I really cannot say enough good things about it.  If you have not tried Hennepin do so as soon as possible! It is one of my absolute favorites and I wish I had more than one bottle in the fridge.

Final Grade: A
