Brewsday Tuesday: Negra Modelo

September 6, 2011

Name: Negra Modelo

Brewed by: Grupo Modelo S.A. de C.V.

Style/ABV: Munich Dunkel Lagel / 5.4%

Appearance: The beer pours with a nice two finger head which decreases in size but does not fully dissipate.  Very clear with a deep tawny color.

Smell: Sweet dark bread like smells (pumpernickle) with some citrus and some faint lemon.

Taste: Malt sweetness followed by toasted grain, hop bitterness and a caramel finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium mouthfeel with moderate carbonation.

Overall: This is my favorite Mexican beer. It is balanced and I really enjoy its simple flavors. It goes well with most kinds of food, by itself, and is very drinkable.

Final Grade: B
