A Night at the Fair

October 13, 2011

We took the kids to the Great South Fair up in Thomasville, Georgia.  Charlotte joined us and after paying for our tickets we made our ways towards the animals.  We saw goats, sheep, cows, chickens and some pigs.  Mason’s favorite part was the boiled peanuts we bought from a couple of guys selling them at a table.

After seeing the animals we took Mason and Jules towards the rides.  Neither of them had any inkling to get on them. I can’t say I could blame them;.  Growing up the rides were my least favorite part of the fair.  I would rather see the biggest pumpkin, or the draught horses or the prize winning jams.

Regardless, Becky wanted them to get the full fair experience so I bought some tickets.  Mason eventually said he wanted to ride the car.  The ride looked likeit was held together by duct tape and bailing wire.  I think he sensed this and despite our attempts to get him on the ride he cried until we took him off.

Undeterred by Mason’s tears we decided to try something a little more his speed, the carosel.  Mason went first with Becky and we had a repeat of last year. He screamed the entire time and looked terrified.  I snapped a picture each time he went by us for posterity’s sake.  Julia went next and enjoyed the ride.  She played it up for the camera and enjoyed her ride.
