Date Night at Liam’s

October 21, 2011

Charlotte agreed to watch the kids while Becky and I enjoyed some much needed adult alone time.  We headed up to Liam’s in Thomasville for a nice relaxing dinner and some drinks.

Becky started with blue crab soup while I had their farmers toast. It consists of a peice of french bread toasted, covered with mushrooms and a creamy truffle sauce.  For good measure, a soft centered egg sits on top.  I pair it with a bottle of Samuel Smith’s Winter Welcome Ale.  It was a perfect start to a cool fall meal.

We were going to get a cheese course but skipped it.  Becky got seared sea scallops on lemon rissoto for her entree while I had grilled pork loin with a whole grain mustard sauce.  Both were phenomenal.  My second beer of the night was Bell’s Oberon.  It’s a summer ale but still went with the pork very well.

For dessert we ordered Becky’s favorite, banana’s foster with vanilla gellato.  By the end of the meal we were both stuffed and Becky took some of her meal home.  Dinner lasted a little over two hours and it was nice to have some good conversation and alone time with Becky.

We still haven’t made it there, but it’s on the top of my list to get there (and we have a groupon to use ;))! I can’t wait to try it, I hear nothing but amazing things.
