Brewsday Tuesday: Left Hand Milk Stout

November 1, 2011

My second stout in as many weeks and with each delightful sip the unpleasant residue left behind by the Punkin Ale slips further into the past.  That is a very good thing, and Left Hand Milk Stout is a very good beer.

Name: Left Hand Milk Stout

Brewed by:  Left Hand Brewing Company

Style/ABV: Milk /Sweet Stout / 6.0%

Appearance: Pours like liquid darkness. The beer appears black until held up to the light when a few deep brown spots emerge around the edges.  It is crowned by a mocha colored head that slowly dissolved.

Smell: Some sweetness, chocolate, coffee and nutty notes. Very appealing.

Taste: Opens with a nice mild sweetness that gives way to chocolate and closes with some hop bitterness. Very nice.

Mouthfeel: Silky full bodied mouthfeel with perfect carbonation.

Overall: This is a very nice stout that is highly drinkable. It reminds me of a thick, velvety glass of chocolate milk with a nice hop finish.  I would definetly buy this beer again and really enjoyed this style.

Final Grade: A-
