Happy Thanksgiving!

November 24, 2011

Happy Thanksgiving! This is one of my favorite holidays of the year.  How could it not be when it is a day full of family, good food and football? We usually stay at home for Thanksgiving, but this year decided to to head over to Nassau County to spend it with Becky’s dad’s family.  Her momma also decided to make the drive to spend the day with Miss Julia and Mason.

We loaded up the kids and made the 2 hour drive.  The kids were well behaved and I stopped at a Starbucks to get them a little something to tide them over.  No, it was not a double espresso shot, it was a piece of gingerbread.  When we arrived the kids hopped out of the car and we went inside to say hello to Aunt Glade and the rest of the family.  After spending a little time inside the kids bounced outside where they remained for most of the afternoon.  They had a blast playing with their cousins and by the end of the day were tuckered out.

As for the food there were two tables loaded with turkey, vegetables and desserts.  Kenny made a fried turkey (which was amazing!) and Becky made some delicious fruit salad and some gooey butter cake bars.  I was stuffed by the time we left and we also brought a plate of leftovers home.

Before going to Monticello we stopped in Hilliard to see Becky’s friend Tanya.  By this time the kids were exhausted and we were only able to stay a few minutes before we had to go.  Miss Julia was putting on a show and Mason wanted to touch every knick-knack in the house.  They were both asleep by the time we got onto I-10 and slept the whole way home.  It was a very good Thansgiving and I am glad we did something different this year!

oh good Lord, you just wrote the phrase ‘tuckered out’. Does this mean you are a completely converted Southerner now (minus the accent)?! 🙂
