A Visit to Alabama

December 4, 2011

On our way back from Pine Mountain, Georgia we stopped to visit Becky’s friend Tanya who lives in Smith Station, Alabama.  He husband is stationed in Fort Bragg and they are living in the area for two years.  I was looking forward to seeing Michael but he was on a short deployment to Afghanistan.

It was our first time visiting Tanya and she had the house all decorated for Christmas.  Her tree was beautiful and she had various decorations throughout the house.  All of them except one made it through the visit unscarred.  A small Santa Clause lost a leg but Tanya was confident she could repair it with some Super Glue.

Tanya fixed us a proper Sunday dinner of ham, mashed taters, maccaroni ‘n cheese, and yeast rolls.  It was very good and it was sweet of her to go through all of that trouble or us.  After dinner we exchanged gifts.  She gave Mason a train which he instantly fell in love with.  On the ride home he held it tightly and fell asleep holding it as it churned its wheels.
