Brewsday Tuesday: Samuel Adams Irish Red

December 13, 2011

I picked up a variety six pack of Samuel Adams from the Winn Dixie.  One of the beers included was their Irish Red.  Let’s see how it fares.

Name: Samuel Adams Irish Red

Brewed by:  Boston Beer Company

Style/ABV: Irish Red Ale / 5.8%

Appearance: Pours a reddish brown with a thin cream colored head.

Smell: Heavy on the malty aromas with dough and caramel dominating.

Taste: Dough, caramel with floral hop notes at the finish.  Not too shabby.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with medicum carbonation.

Overall: I enjoy Irish Red Ales and Samuel Adams’ offering does not disappoint.  It is a very drinkable beer, and at 5.8% abv will sneak up on you if you’re not careful.

Final Grade: B
