Brewsday Tuesday: Budweiser American Ale

January 3, 2012

Name: Budweiser American Ale

Brewed by:  Anheuser-Busch InBev

Style/ABV: American Amber / Red Ale / 5.3%

Appearance: A medium amber color with a two finger cream colored head that lingers.

Smell: Light grains, malty sweetness and citrusy hops. Not bad.

Taste: Caramel, malt sweetness and good hop bitterness.  Balanced.

Mouthfeel: A bit thin, low to moderate carbonation.

Overall: Just because it is brewed by ABInBev does not mean it is a bad beer.  This one is proof that when the King puts its mind to making something decent, it can suceed.  This is not a beer that is going to floor hard core craft beer drinkers.  However it is a good gateway beer to get those who rarely stray from BMC’s most popular offering to try something new.  I enjoyed this beer and would have no problem picking it up again.

Final Grade: B
