Brewsday Tuesday: Restoration Pale Ale

February 21, 2012

Name: Restoration Pale Ale

Brewed by: Abita Brewing Company

Style/ABV: American Pale Ale / 5.0%

Appearance: Pours a deep straw colored yellow with a one finger white head that slowly dissipates.

Smell: Doughy malts with a slight citrus hop scent.  Very mild.

Taste: Begins with some slight malt sweetness, moves into a slight citrus hop flavor, and ends with pizza dough aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodies with medium carbonation.

Overall: This is a very mild but balanced APA that is highly drinkable. It is a step up from the macrolagers that dominate the American beer scene and could prod someone into drinking craft beers.  However, there are much better beers brewed by Abita, and if given the choice I would select one of those over this brew.

Final Grade: C
