Sprucing Up the Front Porch

March 25, 2012

After church we went to O’Neals and then to Lowes.  Becky wanted to add some planters to our front porch.  I was thinking she wanted to put some petunias in the two terra cota pots which contained the remains of two dead plants.  She had other, bigger ideas and grabbed two beautiful hydrangeas.  To hold these monsters we grabbed two oversized pots.

When we got home we put the hydrangeas into the pots and filled them with a mixture of top soil and mushroom compost.  We placed them on either side of the front door and they look amazing.

We also replaced the two dead plants with two petunias and a pretty light blue flowered plant that apparently loves full sun.  We placed them on either side of the steps.  As a final touch Becky pulled the fountain I made a couple of years ago out of the shed and placed it on out wicker table.  Our porch is now a very pretty and tranquil place!

I envy your porch; so cute! So American!

I heart porch swings…as well as dogs lying under American flags amid a background of picket fence.

Why thank you! Sometimes our little boy will lay on that swing, rock and then fall asleep. I love our porch! 🙂
