Hide and Seek with Mason
I was pushing Mason on the swing when he asked me if I wanted to play hide and seek. I said sure and slowed him down. He hopped off the swing and turned towards me. “Okay daddy. I hide under the chair, and you count. Okay?” he said with a look of conviction on his face. I didn’t bother to try and dispute him and dutifully counted to 20 while he hid under the chair. I walked around the yard asking where he could be and exclaimed he was very good at hiding. “Daddy! I am over here!” he said after a few minutes with a big smile on his face.
It was my turn to hide. I started to think of a place to go when Mason interrupted my thought. “Okay daddy. I count, and you hide behind the tree. Okay?” I chuckled as he covered his eyes and started to count. He hit 20 and then started looking around the yard. He worked his way towards the tree and beamed as he found me standing between the live oak trunks.
I told him to hide again. He told me he was going to sit underneath the slide and that I could count near the chairs. I counted and sure enough saw him under the slide in his bright green pjs. I wandered around and saw him peeking out of his hands with another huge smile on his face. I approached his hiding spot. His hands were over his eyes. “You can’t see me daddy! I’m hiding!” I gave him a hug and he asked for some lemonade. I picked him up and we raced toward the house.
