Brewsday Tuesday: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
After six plus hours of depositions and four plus hours of driving I pulled into Monticello. I ordered Chicken and Broccoli from the local Chinese place and ran next door to buy some beer. I wanted something with a hop punch but was not over the top. A green six pack called my name and I strolled out with some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Let’s do this!
Name: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Brewed by: Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
Location: Chico, CA
Style/ABV: American Pale Ale / 5.6%
Appearance: Pours a bright copper with an impressive three finger off white head that slowly recedes leaving a thin layer on top. A great amount of lacing is present at the beer disappears.
Smell: Sweet caramel and citrus with a hint of pine.
Taste: Opens with a hint of grapefruit; rolls into caramel malt sweetness; and finishes with a punch of citrus hops. This is an American Pale Ale through and through.
Mouthfeel: Medium with medium carbonation.
Overall: This beer is a classic! It is readily available almost where ever beers are sold and has a nice hoppy flavor without being over the top. It is sessionable and I really enjoy this beer and style.
Final Grade: A
