Brewsday Tuesday: Pipeline Porter

September 4, 2012

College football season arrived this Saturday in Tallahassee as Florida State took on Murray State.  Despite having a sinus infection and being on antibiotics I decided to go to the game. While milling around in Lot 14 my buddy handed me a Pipeline Porter.  Not wanting to be rude, I hunted down a bottle opener and cracked this one open.  Okole maluna!

Name: Pipeline Porter

Brewed by: Kona Brewing Co.

Location: Kailua Kona, HI

Style/ABV: American Porter / 5.4%

Appearance: Pours a dark chocolate brown with a light tan head.

Smell: Semi-sweet coffee, cola and some light chocolate notes.

Taste: Opens with some chocolate notes before a punch of coffee arrives. I like it.

Mouthfeel: Medium with medium carbonation. Creamy.

Overall: This was a good American Porter and was very refreshing in the heat and humidity of North Florida.  I really enjoyed the coffee notes in this beer, and would try it again.

Final Grade: B+
