Fall Garden Update: Week 2

September 17, 2012

The cabbage, collards, and Swiss chard have been in the ground for one week.  So far, none of them have gone to the big garden in the sky, which I consider a victory. The Swiss chard is doing the best, followed by the collards, and then the cabbage.  If I actually pick any decent sized green vegetables later this fall I will be amazed I outsmarted my fall garden black thumb.

Yesterday I planted three more Swiss chard plants in three terracotta pots and put them on the front stairs.  When we left for school/work this morning Mason pointed to the pots. “Look dad! Your seeds are growing! You’re so good at this,” he said with a big smile on his face.  If he only knew!
