Brewsday Tuesday: Shipyard Export Ale

September 18, 2012

Looking for some new beers I picked up a sampler of Shipyard Brewing Company’s beers.  I may have had some of these when I lived up in NH, but I honestly can’t remember.  Tonight I decided to start with the lightest of the group, their Export Ale.  Cheers!

Name: Shipyard Export Ale

Brewed by: Shipyard Brewing Co.

Location: Portland, ME

Style/ABV: American Blonde Ale / 5.0%

Appearance: Pours a bright golden yellow with a one finger white head that fades.  No lacing is present.

Smell: Sweet smelling malts with some mild fruitiness in the back.

Taste: Sweet light malts with a very low hop bitterness.  Lingering flavor of biscuits.

Mouthfeel: Light and crisp with medium carbonation.

Overall: A very mild and refreshing beer without much complexity.  Not something I would purchase again, but not something I would refuse.

Final Grade: C
