Brewsday Tuesday: Summer Ale

October 2, 2012

The third beer in the Shipyard Sampler Pack was their Summer Ale.  It came in a bottle with a lobstah on the beach holding a beeah. What could be more Summah than that? Drink up!

Name: Summer Ale

Brewed by: Shipyard Brewing Co.

Location: Portland, ME

Style/ABV: American PaleAle / 5.1%

Appearance: A very bright golden ale with a two finger pillow of fluffy head.

Smell: Wheat, some corn notes, and some light citrus. Slightly macro.

Taste: Some malt sweetness, wheat, lemon with a slight bitterness that lingers at the end.

Mouthfeel: Medium with medium carbonation.

Overall: A very average summer ale that could serve a purpose on a warm day in June, but does nothing to separate itself from the pack.

Final Grade: C+
