Brewsday Tuesday: Angry Orchard Traditional Dry Cider

October 23, 2012

When I lived in the UK I tried many new things. Among my favorites were a properly pulled pint of bitters, and a good dry cider.  I heard the boys at the Boston Beer Company were getting into the cider business, and when I saw a 6-pack at Publix, I decided to buy it.  Cheers!

Name: Angry Orchard Traditional Dry Cider

Brewed by: Boston Beer Company

Location: Cincinnati, OH

Style/ABV: Cider / 5.5%

Appearance: Pours a nice bright clear gold color with no head.

Smell: Tart apples with a slight hint of mustiness.

Taste: A big burst of tart apple flavor that lingers. Lightly sweet. Dry at the end. Refreshing.

Mouthfeel: Light with medium carbonation.

Overall: This is a decent dry cider.  The fact it is being made by the same fellas that make Samuel Adams means it should be available just about everywhere.  It goes does ridiculously smooth and easy.  It would make a mean Snake Bite with a pint of Boston Lager.

Final Grade: B

As someone forced to live gluten free, I have sampled many hard ciders, but not this one. Might have to give it a try now.
