Sitting in the waiting room at CHP Urgent Care I noticed a tweet from the @EatThisNotThat touting Kashi whole grain pizza.  I had wanted pizza since getting off of work on Friday, and stopped in at Publix on my way home to Monticello.  They had several varieties, and I decided on the Mushroom Trio & Spinach thin crust pizza by Kashi.  The pizza touted itself as having “Baby Portabella, Champignon & Shitake Mushroom with Spinach, Mozzarella & Provolone Cheese with a Tomato Parmesan Sauce on a Stone Fired Kashi 7 Grain Whole Grain and Sesame with Flax Seed Crust.” Fancy. The box also indicated it had 14 grams of proteins, 11 grams of whole grain, and 4 grams of fiber.

The pizza was packaged in a thin plastic covering and I slid it onto a metal baking sheet and into a preheated 400°F oven for ten minutes.  When the timer went off, I took it out and allowed it to cool for two minutes pursuant to the instructions on the box.

I cut the twelve inch pizza into quarters and slid two onto my plate.  The crust was cripy and did not have an overpowering whole grain flavor.  I could not taste the sauce, and scraped back the cheese to see if there was any on the pie.  It was there, albeit in a very thin dusting.  It provided zero tomato flavor to the pizza.  The toppings were good, and there were actually three different kinds of mushrooms on the pie.  The cheese was not very flavorful, and there was not that anticipated sharpness from the Provolone cheese.   On the plus side, it did not have any of the cheap frozen pizza processed flavors.  Overall, it did not live up to its billing and I would skip it in the future.
