Tonight while Becky and Julia went carolling at the retirement home, Mason and I ate soup and played Angry Birds on the couch.  While bashing the bad piggies with all sorts of avian ordinace we chatted about school.

“How was Big Boy school today?”

“Good. Nice job daddy! You’re good at this game,” he said as we beat another level.

“Who did you play with today?”

“Aubrey is my girlfriend. So is Morgan. And Ferkayla,” he replied.  To him, a girlfriend is a friend, who happens to be a girl. Adorable.

“That is good. Anyone else?”

“Maggie, but she is a peng-quin.”

“Must make it hard to see her. Being in the Penquin class and all.”

“Yes, it sure does. Daddy, do you have a girlfriend at your Big Boy school?” he asked.

I laughed.

“No little man. The only girlfriend I have is your momma.”
