Mason’s Fourth Birthday
At 8:14 a.m. this morning Mason turned four years old. Four years old. Where has the time gone? It feels like we were just headed to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Three days of labor later, he arrived via an emergency C-section. I still remember seeing the first glimpse of our little boy and his full head of blonde hair.
Mason is growing up to be a very cool little kid. He is serious with his own sense of humor. He is quiet and likes to play by himself, which can be a challenge with Hurricane Julia roaming the house. His favorite toys right now are his match cars, Cars cars, Thomas, and Y(L)egos. He also is going through a superhero phase (along with his little buddies) and really loves Captain America and Spiderman.
This morning Becky stayed home from work to get ready for his birthday party at Big Boy School. We got him dressed and then measured him in front of his door jamb. He must have grown almost 6 inches this year. He was smiling as we made the newest mark and affixed the date next to the line. When it was time to go he put his boots on, grabbed reindeer baby, two match cars and headed towards the door with a smile on his face.
This afternoon I met Becky at his school where she had set up a great birthday party for all of his little buddies. It was a Mickey Mouse theme, and to do it any justice, deserves its own post. He had a great time and it was a blast watching him interact with his pals. When we got home we built his two new Y(L)ego sets (a garbage truck and a police car). He loved driving the truck around picking up trash. I had fun playing with my favorite childhood toy. I hope he had a good day, and when I tucked him in last night he made me put the container with all his Lego sets in his bed. Too cute.
