Alchemy and the Root Cellar

May 11, 2013

Tonight Becky and I went on our first date night in forever. Brooklyn came over and watched the kids while we went out or drinks and dinner.

Our first stop was Alchemy. It is a speak easy style bar in Midtown. The interior was dimly lit, jazz played, and the bartenders mixed delicious drinks. I had an Old Fashioned and a Flapper (bourbon with a splash of Italian fortified wine) while Becks had a Prohibition Punch. We had a great time talking and drinking and could have stated there the entire night.

For dinner we went to the Miccosukee Root Cellar. We had cheese, a flat bread pizza, and short ribs. Their beer selection was also very good and I tried one I had never had, a Tommyknocker Maple Brown Ale. The food was delicious, and the company was very good.

It was great to have a night out with Becky. We don’t get enough grown up time and we need to do it again sooner rather than later.
