Today was the grand opening of Bass Pro Shops’ Tallahassee location.  As part of the grand opening festivities NASCAR driver Tony Stewart made an appearance to greet fans and sign autographs.  Mason loves NASCAR and when he heard Tony Stewart would be in town wanted to meet him.  I knew there would be a ton of people, but decided to take him to see one of his favorite drivers.

I left work a few minutes early, picked him up from day care, and drove back to Tallahassee.  The parking lot of the Bass Pro Shops was packed.  We made our way towards the line which stretched down the side of the store.  It was hot and intermittently rained.  We ended up being right behind his buddy from school and while we waited for almost two hours they climbed on boats and played.

Eventually they opened the door and we began to move.  They had posters and photos for Tony Stewart to sign in addition to some other merchandise available for sale.  I bought two small die-cast cars and had him sign one along with a picture.  He said hi to Mason and smiled which made his day.  The entire process took under 20 second.  Once we had our souvenirs we walked through the packed store and checked out the fish tank complete with bass.

Mason had a great afternoon and was so excited as we drove home.  Bass Pro Shops has a fan and when we got back to Monticello Mason explained his adventure to his momma and told her she had to pay the store a visit because it was so amazing.
