In addition to spending time on the beach we made a short drive to Fort George Island to visit Kingsley Plantation. We walked around the grounds and got a glimpse of what life on a cotton plantation was like in the 1850s.
We also made a trip to downtown Fernandina to browse the shops and get an ice cream cone. The kids had a lot of fun making a huge mess. Becky also picked them up a couple of pirate books at the local bookshop.
One last highlight was watching Mason fly a kite for the first time. We picked him up a little Gala kite and flew it in front of the condo. The wind was strong and the kite took off with little effort. He had a huge smile on his face as he ran up and down the beach holding the string. It was a wonderful sight!
